Reactions were pretty mixed at the first image that surfaced for 'The Lone Ranger' with Johnny Depp's 'Tonto', so he and Armie Hammer have met with Navajo leaders and here's the latest images.
Gore Verbinski’s ‘The Lone Ranger‘ movie seemed like it was beseiged with one problem after another, but then after the first image of Johnny Depp as Tonto with Armie Hammer surfaced, many thought Depp might have gone back on his word to “take some of the ugliness thrown on the Native Americans, not only in The Lone Ranger, but the way Indians were treated throughout the history of cinema, and turn it on its head.”
The Navaho nation where they are filming seem quite satisfied with the script and Depp's intention with the character. Dr. Gayle Dine’Chacon, Surgeon General of the Navajo Nation is seen obviously rather pleased that Tonto will be treated well in the film version of the popular tv show.
