In several interviews Kimberly Pierce has stressed that she's doing a complete update with the Brian de Palma classic horror film Carrie with Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie, but the latest images are very reminiscent of that film. This one has Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore taking over the roles.
That one Carrie remake was just awful although the sequel wasn't too bad, but it's just hard to redo a classic film like this one. Julianne Moore brings her all to every role so I expect a great developed character for the mother originally played by Piper Laurie. What Moore brought to Sarah Palin's character in the HBO film Game Change was a real humanity and from what she's said in interviews, she's doing the same here for Kimberly Pierce. Entertainment Weekly has the usual first look images to check out which just makes me want to go back and watch the original again. So we put the original trailer down below to compare.
It's a strong line-up with Moore alone and I'll be curious to see the first trailer of Chloe Moretz playing the very put upon teenager with those special skills that many of us wished we had in high school...hell even now. Sissy Spacek perfected the role and looked like every teenager in high school who got picked on whereas Moretz usually looks like the girl who did the picking on. This one doesn't open until March 13, 2013 so we'll have time to see how this develops.
