'Looper' has been another movie under the rader, but director Rian Johnson showed some new images of a beefier looking Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing a young Bruce Willis along with the trailer for the film. Amazing what prosthetics can do!
Joseph Gordon-Levitt teams up with Rian Johnson again, and if you've seen 'Brick' then you know that can only be a great thing. While many say that 'Brick' is what kicked off Levitt's film career, I've got to insist that you also check out Greg Araki's 'Mysterious Skin' which really showed off his acting talent's along with showing that he could jump back and forth between indie and mainstream film with ease. I'd say check out both films if you've not and you'll really appreciate Levitt even more.
Levitt has beefed up some for this role to play a younger version of Bruce Willis in a world where time travel is a Black Market commodity. It's got that 'Terminator' kinda vibe of when you want to kill someone, you send them back in the past where a killer for hire takes them out.
We got to check out the trailer earlier today (which will hit either tomorrow or Monday), and it focuses mainly on Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character, a contract killer who starts by saying, "Time travel has not yet been invented. Thirty years from now, it has." Immediately that gets your interest, especially after said person appears and just as quick is killed by Levitt. Anyone knows that this young actor brings his all to every role (even 'Hesher' which some critics hated), so 'Looper' is looking to be a fun scifi film for the Fall. Rather than spoil things by giving away much of the trailer, it gives a great feel for what the films about and that Gordon-Levitt is a badass killer who knows that "The only rule is you never let your target escape. Even if the target is you." Enough said there, except Levitt continues proving that he's got a long career doing any genre he wants.
